It is over 800 pages long and is crammed full of colour clinical photographs on high quality gloss paper... "It represents the fruits of his considerable clinical experience over the past 20 years or so. The chapters are largely based on site-specific reconstruction techniques. While the majority of defects result from neoplastic disease, there is a chapter at the end dedicated to trauma reconstruction and also a chapter on paediatric cases, both of which would also be of interest to our Maxillo-Facial colleagues. Three initial chapters deal with special topics related to the head and neck patient, including issues around nutrition, vascular access and complications of free tissues transfer. "The format of the chapters is based on a description of basic principles and considerations for reconstruction in particular areas, followed by detailed case studies including descriptions of their clinical course, illustrated with staged clinical photographs. There are some helpful classification systems, largely based on Urken's own experience and they therefore may not be familiar to most readers. "While this textbook eloquently describes the management of dozens of challenging cases, it is not meant as a 'How I do it' type text. If you don't know how to do a free radial forearm flap, then you still won't after reading this book. You will however gain an understanding of the different scenarios in which it can be used...In essence, this is a hugely detailed and colourful descriptive case series."-The Journal of Laryngology and Otology

I think it is a great book. There is information in the book that is hard to find elsewhere. For example, which fibula to use for what defect, the choice being influenced by the position of the anastomosis and if the soft tissue defect is mucosa or skin. Dr Urken obviously has a vast amount of experience and is happy to share that experience with the reader. He is very methodical and analytical which helps with planning. This book is very informative and a useful resource for microvascular surgeons.

About the Author

Michael C. Newman is a current professor of marine science at the College of William & Mary, Virginia Institute of Marine Science. His research interests include quantitative ecotoxicology, environmental statistics, risk assessment, population effects of contaminants, metal chemistry and effects, and bioaccumulation and biomagnification modeling. In addition to roughly 145 articles, he authored six books and edited another six on these topics. In 2004, the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry awarded him its Founder’s Award, "the highest SETAC award, given to a person with an outstanding career who has made a clearly identifiable contribution in the environmental sciences."

Great book, obviously new as the author hasn't had time to fix some errors

I just started reading this book as a review of some things and so far I just want to emphasize that I am very happy with the purchase. The use of actual Bloomberg screens has reminded of screens that I don't use too often anymore. While I have found the book, so far, to be very good, there are some issues with some examples given in the book. E.g., in Chapter 5, the author references Exhibit 5.11 to help explain some basic spread measures (nominal and Z-spread); only problem is that the security used in the exhibit differs from what the author references in the text. The information in the text is still helpful but referncing the reader to an incorrect exhibit is somewhat confusing.

I've been in the investment profession for 5 years now and am a CFA charterholder. I can assure anyone considering this book, it is a must for your collection. Even the best practitioners need refreshing and this book is short and to the point in a variety of Fixed Income analysis concepts. One of my favorite reference materials that exist.

Book is great, and the minifigure is. . . . obscure and hardly recognizable but it could be worse

The book is great. I love the layout, it's packed with pictures and lots of LEGO and Star Wars facts/information.

The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is the minifigure. It gets a B. Looks great, but I challenge anyone to recognize this guy with no hints as being from The Force Awakens.

About the Author
Jose Santaella trained with Ferran Adri�, Eric Ripert, and Gary Danko before opening his own eponymous restaurant in his native San Juan. Santaella has been lauded in Departures, Delta Sky, Food & Wine, Ralph Lauren Magazine and Marie Claire. Eric Ripert is the chef of Le Bernardin and the author of four cookbooks.

Puerto Rico in a Cookbook

Absolutely stunningly beautiful book. The photos are gorgeous, the recipes are exotic and a taste of Puerto Rico. With more than a hundred recipes - including dumplings of mashed plantains and crab, fried whole snapper with pineapple and cilantro salsa, ham and cilantro b�chamel croquettes, cassava fritters with pork sausage, codfish fritters, marinated mussels, beef stew with pork rind rice (oh my goodness was this delicious), pork and sweet potato gratin -- you can take a trip to Puerto Rico by going into your kitchen. The desserts --- Mallorca bread, doughnuts, flan....just jump off the page. As soon as I received this book - I posted in The Cookbook Junkies, my group of 14,000 cookbook fanatics - how much this book was needed. I love it - it's one of my top books of 2014.

A Must for Fans of Puerto Rican Cuisine

This book is an excellent reference for Puerto Rican cuisine. Firstly, I have made a number of the recipes and I found them easy to follow, and better yet, they work! Secondly, the book is full of beautiful photographs which enriches the experience. Highly recommended.
